Well, I was born in a little … oh, we don’t have to go that far back! My college background is in graphic design and marketing. While I was working my way through school at an art store, (to cover tuition and supplies) a customer came in and told me that I “should get into real estate”. At first I discounted the idea, but he persisted and offered to pay for my real estate schooling. I began my career by actually walking to the real estate office, and within 6 months walked to the dealership and bought a brand new car! “Thanks, Walt!!” That was 1984 and I have loved every minute of being a Realtor. My clients find that my education in graphics and marketing is a plus, and I still do some graphic work from time to time, but helping people to buy or sell homes is really special. I have been fortunate enough to have been elected to be a Justice of the Peace, which means that I have the privilege of marrying couples. It really brings me great joy to be able to officiate a ceremony, and I have performed many marriages for friends (and clients too) over the past 16 years. I do joke around a bit and tell any of my clients that if they would like to get married, the ceremony is always free, but actually that’s true. I consider it to be a special gift. It is indeed an honor to be a part of a very important day for someone else. When a client asks me to officiate their ceremony, I am really honored, and who wouldn’t be? In fact, I represented this couple in the purchase of their home, and also married them a few months later. (I think they were the first people to call me Judge Judy!) I have more of an in-depth understanding of the whole building process than the average Realtor, having been a consultant to a top notch general contractor for 14 years. This has enabled me to bring an experienced eye to any house I list or sell, as I can easily see beyond mere cosmetics and spot the deeper levels of structural strengths and weaknesses in a property. As far as my passions go–well, my 8-year old son Adam is just an outstanding boy, who is kind and playful and has a heart of gold. He really is every mother’s dream child, and I’m lucky enough to be his mom. Music is also a deep-rooted love. I can recall with fond memories when I was little, (..er, “littler”) when we used to see my Dad play concerts. He is an incredible sax player, and a “swing” musician in his heyday. One of the greatest things is being able to play duets with him around the holidays, or whenever the mood strikes us. I just love listening and playing music, and find it hard to walk by a piano without wanting to play. I enjoy life, and consider any day a great one when I can help someone, or make someone smile.
